Our Story...

His Story

Pat was born in Pennsylvania, where he lived with his mom (Tina), dad (George), and older sister (Holly) until first grade. His family then moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia where he lived until ninth grade. His family then moved to Buford, Georgia, where he finished high school and where his parents currently live. His older sister, Holly, lives in Roswell, Georgia with her two children, Brooke and Braxton. Patrick is in the Navy Reserve, and spent a year deployed in the Middle East working as military police and earned the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. Pat is also currently working toward a degree in International Business and Marketing at Piedmont College in Athens, Georgia. He will be graduating in May 2015.

Her Story

Megan was born in Illinois, and moved to St. Louis shortly after where she lived until second grade. She then moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia where she lived throughout high school. Megan's dad (Matt), stepmom (Laura) and little brother (Austin) still live in Lawrenceville, while Megan's mom (Dana), stepdad (Todd), and little brother (Ethan) live in Danville, California. Megan's older brother, Curtis, is attendng Dental School at Georgia Regents University in Augusta, GA. Megan loves spending time with friends and family, whether that be in Georgia, California, or any other destination! Megan graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She's currently working at an Orthopedic Clinic in Athens, GA and will (hopefully!) be attending Physician Assistant School shortly after the wedding in 2015.

How We Met

We met in middle school, where we both lived in the same neighborhood and went to the same school. Pat quickly became best friends with Megan's older brother, Curtis, after moving into the same neighborhood. Curtis and Pat would constantly hang out, and it wasn't long before Megan and Pat met through Curtis. Curtis and Megan were only a year a part in school and had many of the same friends, so Megan and Pat quickly became best friends as well! Over time, that friendship grew into something more, and the rest is history! :)

The Engagement

Pat started planning an entire surprise engagement weekend from the Middle East while he was still deployed. Megan thought that the trip was a birthday present from Pat to go wine tasting and for Pat to finally be able to visit California. But, when we got there it was sooo much more! Megan knew that her grandparents, Holly (Pat's sister), and her boyfriend Chris would be there, but had no idea about anyone else. On Friday October 18th, we headed out to Chalk Hill Winery to have a wine tasting date with just the two of us. We toured all through the beautiful vines on horseback. When we got to the very top of the hill overlooking all of the winery, we decided to get off of the horses and take pictures. Our tour guide starts snapping away and after a few pictures, Pat turned to Megan and got on one knee! (AHH!!) He said the most beautiful words and finally popped the question! Megan was blown away with excitement and said YES, of course! We finished the tour and tasting and then headed back to the Sonoma house we were staying at. We walked in the door and an engagement party was waiting for us! Megan's mom had a video that was put together by Megan's friend, Janie, that had all of our friends and family from back home congratulating us and wishing us the best. We started to watch the video and were just so overwhelmed by the amount of love and support being showered on us. It was truly a very special moment! Then, out of no where Pat's parents walk in from the back room unexpectedly and THEN, Megan's three best friends (Olivia, Janie, and Kristine) came screaming down the stairs!! Megan was SO surprised and SO thrilled to be able to spend such a special time with close family and friends. Pat and everyone else involved in planning the surprise engagement did SUCH a good job and truly made it the most memorable weekend!
